After a long time, I have decided to (again) write a blog. Writing is difficult; it takes time, rigor, and focus. On the other hand, it helps the author, in a lot of cases, more than it helps the reader. It helps organize one’s thoughts, double-check their assumptions, and open them to scrutiny. So, I, myself, am going to benefit from writing this blog a lot.
But what is in it for you? One of my main motivations in life is to learn; just for the sake of learning… I wish I had infinite time and energy to delve into all the knowledge available out there, and possibly contribute to that it. From this perspective, I am usually in this down mood thinking “Oh my God, there is so much I don’t know…” Having said that, it turns out I have accumulated some experience and knowledge that I realize other people find useful. I have been mentoring others, young students and colleagues, for some time now. On the other hand, I am realizing this does not scale. I am humbled by many people asking questions over LinkedIn about their careers or technical topics, but I can barely find the time to write back to them in time and in detail. So, I am thinking, writing a blog could be a scalable way of giving back what I have learned. In short, I am hoping this blog will benefit others too.
So, what am I planning to write here? I have few topics in mind:
- I am working in high tech for about 7 years now, on data science and AI. I am planning to share this experience, from the application process for such roles to how to manage your career once you get in.
- There is a lot happening in the field, especially in reinforcement learning, which is what I focus on. I would like to share my two cents on these topics from time to time.
- It is sometimes hard to find good explanations for a technical concept, such as a theory or a model. I will be writing posts/tutorials that explain such topics in a way that was easy for me to understand.
I will see how far I will go, but I am excited. I hope you find what I write useful. If you would like to be notified about what I publish (and only what I publish, nothing else), consider subscribing to my email list using the box on the sidebar.
See you in the next posts.
